This summer, Essential Theatrical Associates (ETA Arts) is proud to continue our exciting partnership with the historic Monticello Opera House with the high-energy musical revue Five Guys Named Moe! Filled with jazz, blues, rhythm, comedy, and unforgettable music, this production celebrates the legendary songs of Louis Jordan.
We are currently seeking 6 Black male performers of various vocal ranges for this energetic and movement-driven production. Performers should be comfortable with jazz, blues, musical theatre performance styles, and high-energy choreography. We are looking for performers with great comedic timing, charisma, and strong individual personalities.

The heart of the show. Nomax is down on his luck, discouraged, and struggling with life, love, and self-confidence. Through the wisdom and chaos of the Moes, he rediscovers joy, confidence, rhythm, and purpose. Strong acting ability, comedic timing, and emotional honesty are important for this role.
Vocal Style: Strong singer with warmth and personality
Performance Notes: Must carry the emotional journey of the show while also handling comedy and movement.
The leader of the group and the smooth, confident voice of authority among the Moes. Big Moe is charismatic, stylish, wise, and commanding, with natural stage presence and leadership energy.
Vocal Style: Rich, commanding vocals preferred
Performance Notes: Strong presence, charm, and musical confidence required.
A lovable, larger-than-life personality with enormous comedic energy. Eat Moe brings humor, appetite, rhythm, and joy to every moment. Physical comedy and movement skills are a major plus.
Vocal Style: Energetic character singer
Performance Notes: Big personality, fearless performer, excellent comedic instincts.
Sharp, quirky, intelligent, and playful. Four-Eyed Moe often observes the madness around him while fully participating in it. This character thrives on comic specificity and strong character choices.
Vocal Style: Flexible character vocalist
Performance Notes: Excellent comedic timing and expressive personality needed.
Cool, stylish, and smooth with effortless swagger. No Moe moves through the show with confidence and rhythm and often embodies the classic jazz-club charisma of the era.
Vocal Style: Smooth jazz/blues style preferred
Performance Notes: Strong mover with natural coolness and stage confidence.
The youngest and most energetic of the group. Little Moe is playful, explosive, agile, and full of infectious enthusiasm. Strong dance/movement ability is highly encouraged.
Vocal Style: High-energy performer with vocal flexibility
Performance Notes: Athletic movement ability and vibrant personality are important.
